Glucomannan
ALTER-GELIJAC is a natural gelling agent derived from Amorphophallus konjac, traditionally harvested in China. This plant-based agent is primarily composed of glucomannan, a polysaccharide that forms thick, clear gels in aqueous solutions.
ALTER-GELIJAC is a great alternative to synthetic gelling agents like carbomers, providing a natural solution for thickening and stabilizing emulsions while leaving a protective film on the skin.
Viscosity of aqueous ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to % used.
ALTER-GELIJAC is able to thick aqueous media over a very wide pH range, in highly acidic media and highly alkaline media.
Viscosity of an 1% aqueous ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to pH.
ALTER-GELIJAC can thicken media containing some elecrolytes.
Viscosity of a 1% ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to the quantity of electrolytes. % NaCl used.
ALTER-GELIJAC is compatible with Amphoteric surfactants until 10%
Viscosity of a 1% ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to the quantity of amphoteric surfactant. Test carried out with Cocamidopropyl betaine surfactant.
ALTER-GELIJAC is compatible with non-ionic surfactants until 10%.
Viscosity of a 1% ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to the quantity of non-ionic surfactant. Test carried out with Caprylyl/Capryl glucoside surfactant.
The gel’s viscosity obtained doesn’t change over time,
We observe a change in gel’s appearance with 20% anionic surfactant concentration. The gel becomes more slimy.
Viscosity of a 1% ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to the quantity of anionic surfactant.
ALTER-GELIJAC can thickens media containing cationic surfactant.
The viscosity of the gels obtained doesn’t change over time.
Viscosity of a 1% ALTER-GELIJAC gel according to the quantity of cationic surfactant. Test carried out with Cetrimonium chloride surfactant.
Recommended Dosage: from 0.1 to 2%
Usage: Easy dispersion without agglomeration in aqueous bases.
Cold or hot process, but texture is improved when heated.
Formulation tips: Can be formulated over a wide range of pH.
Compatible with electrolytes. Can be used with most surfactants:
ionic and non-ionic, amphoteric and cationic.
Ideal to formulate shower gels, shampoos, slimming gels, gel scrub, freshness gel masks.
