The Black Oak charcoal comes from a special tree, the “ubame oak”, that can be found in the Wakayama prefecture of Japan (South of Kobe). The wood of this rigid oak is carbonized at high temperatures to obtain porous charcoal with many properties, such as purification. The Wakayama prefecture is known to supply the best quality of charcoal.
